Carts Greenspace can only achieve its aims by building successful partnerships with
other people and organisations sharing our aspirations. We are keen to hear from people, so this page presents some
details about our organisation and the people behind it.

Who we are and what we do
Carts Greenspace has been established to help the people of Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire to transform
the open spaces that surround their homes, schools and work places into greenspaces that will be cherished by the whole
community. Carts Greenspace delivers the national "Greenspace for Communities" initiative
at a local level. The Greenspace for Communities initiative has eight guiding principles: Encouraging community
participation and ownership Enhancing biodiversity Improving existing landscapes and eliminating degraded
ones Encouraging people to use greenspace to improve their health and for informal recreation Fostering
understanding and appreciation of the environment Promoting community economic development Creating opportunities
for employment, training, work experience and volunteering Developing community pride.
Carts Greenspace can become involved in a wide variety of projects, ranging from formal urban gardens to
overgrown wildlife wilderness...

Carts Greenspace's work is guided by a Local Area Partnership which comprises councillors from
East Renfrewshire and Renfrewshire Councils, plus representatives of other concerned organisations. These currently
include the River Clyde Fisheries Management Trust, the Eco Congregations Greater Glasgow Network and the Royal
Society for the Protection of Birds. We are keen to recruit new representative groups to the Local Area Partnership,
so please let us know if your organisation would be interested in participating.

GREENSPACE TRANSFORMATION CHESTS AVAILABLE FOR
LOAN TO COMMUNITY GROUPS
Carts Greenspace has developed a new resource for those groups who have perhaps
identified an open space eyesore in their neighbourhood but who do not know what to do next.
Why not contact us and borrow a Greenspace Transformation
Chest.
Two chests have been prepared, so you should not have to wait too long to dip
into a stimulating cornucopia of resources. There are books, videos, CD-roms and simple folders of photographs - all
selected to show you projects that have been completed in other greenspace sites, generate thought about design ideas, suggest
funding possibilities and generally show you the way forward towards transforming your own local eyesore into a valuable and
valued greenspace resource for everybody to enjoy.
